Went and saw the Staffordshire Hoard
I visited the British Museum during their Thursday night late opening hours a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised to find that part of the Staffordshire Hoard is now on display. The artifacts are absolutely amazing, consisting mostly of gold jewelry and accessories with inlaid garnets, and some silver items. Interestingly, many of them still have a coating of dirt on them since they haven’t started the conservation process yet (so you can see them just as they appeared to the detectorist when he pulled them out of the ground). If you happen to be in London, you should try to stop by. The exhibit is upstairs in room 36, near the front of the museum. Unfortunately, it’s only on show there until 7 Feb, 3 days before the new hunts begin.
