Trip Insurance

Rate this Entry
Trying to get trip insurance for the upcoming March hunt. Checked out the site that was recommended but after putting in all the numbers, it came out to over $500. Could someone help me out here as to what is recommended coverage in detail and should it be the cost of the whole trip or just for the amount spent so far, deposit + flight + van rental? Don't want to wait too long as I sent the deposit in 2 months ago and paid for the flight 1 month ago. Thanks for any help!

Chris, We usually do the Travel Guard Silver because it covers more and we are 62 and 66. You have to purchase that level within two weeks of your first deposit, so you may be out of luck on that one. I would say buy insurance for anything that you can't afford to lose. We buy enough for airline tickets, hotel or B&B deposit if you come in early, Chris's amount with accommodation, van and estimated food. Go to the TravelGuard website where they have side by side comparisons for the different levels and see what makes the most sense for you. I know the older you are the more it costs. If you can afford to kiss the $$$ goodbye if you have to cancel, then don't worry about it.

Another couple was going with us last year when the wife became ill. They got all their money back for both because they had the silver level. It covers you if your spouse cannot go. I wouldn't go without Clarence and I hope he wouldn't go without me.
Mindy is the real expert but she is kind of busy right now. If you have any more questions, you should call TravelGuard and talk to a real person for clarification. I hope this helps.

I just got the Gold version from travel guard today and spent $109.00 for flights etc. Used travel guard last year, had a death in the family and had to cancel my trip. They were very helpful and understanding and I got back every dime. I agree with Mary call them and talk to them they will help you pick out what you need.
