This years competition is slightly different to win some more gold .

Last season the guys found 32 gold finds, 5 of the coins found were modern LOL post 1700 and the rest were ancient ones back to 70BC.

The new season starts on the 3rd Sept so make a guess at the date and time that the first PRE 1700 gold coin will be found. Closing date for the competition will be August 2005

So to win the gold send me a mail with your guess at the date and time the first gold coin is found that is PRE 1700 AD. The guy that makes the closest guess wins the gold.

Win one or more gold coins !!

(these coins are bought from collections and have not been found here)

Top prize is this Galo Belgic 56 BC Celtic gold stater

I have had it recorded at the Celtic coin register CCI number is 04.0674

'the image is of a Gallo-Belgic stater- date is probably 57 or 56 BC. It looks like a very nice example of the earliest class of this type, VA 50-1 - recognizable as this particular class because of the decoration beneath the horse, with pellets and zigzags.' from Philip de Jersey

This one will be the competition price

As you have probably guessed by now I love competitions as they add a bit of extra spice to the hunts

This year the competition is slightly different. You could win between one to 6 gold coins if you guess correctly and the guys get skunked LOL

There will be 6 gold coins buried see Awards and prizes as an extra bit of fun on one field as a seeded hunt competition. During the year all guys hunting here have the chance to pick up a few if luck is on their side. The field will be a big one so you have to guess how many the guys will find between Sept and April 2005 .

Obviously lots of guys will have the same number left as a guess so you also you have to guess by which date they made that last coin find

So on your mail or post guess

1. How many of the seeded gold coins will be found out of the six and by what date dd/mm/yy did the last one get found, guessing just the month is no good, need date and month. Whoever is the closest wins !!

Whatever gold coins are missed by the guys is your's as the correct guesser, if they are all found you will still receive an early British gold coin as your prize like the ones above.

Send your entries to e-mail or post on the forum

To be illegible you must be a regular of the Treasure Forum or Colchestertreasurehunting club ( those already booked to hunt here are also associate members)
